Tuscan weather is influenced both by the proximity to the seaside and by the Appennino Mountains.
Pisa is settled in the so-called "Piana Pisana" which gathers the Apuana coast, the Versilia, the seacoast and Leghorn, going through the low Valdarno and the level land of Lucca up to the Valdinievole.
The weather is generally mild, with hot summers and winters not too much harsh with temperatures which rarely fall below zero. In this area there are not abundant rainfall and they are chiefly concentrated during Spring and Autumn.
