Pisa is a lively university city, in the past it was one of the 4 Seafaring Republics. Galileo Galilei was born here and many artists such as Giacomo Leopardi, Byron and Shelley moved to Pisa.

It is famous throughout the world due to its Tower and the square of Miracles has lots of other interesting places to visit, beautiful Romanic style churches, houses-towers, small alleys and squares.

But since the Middle Ages, the period of utmost splendour, up until today its borders have been extended and now include the current area that ranges from the hills to the sea.
