In 1998, on the occasion of some works made for the Pisa-San Rossore Station, archeological finds were discovered.
The finds were then identified with ancient ships sank where there was a junction between a Pisan channel and the river Serchio.
Due to the noteworthy number of these ships a shipyard with equipped routes was set up in order to make it visitable even during the course of the works.
The attached Centro del Restauro del Legno Bagnato gathers many restored finds, also the organic ones, recuperated on board ship.
